So you want to learn Egyptian Arabic?
Let me guess...
You love the people, love the culture, and would love nothing more than to freely use Egyptian Arabic...
But you either don't know where to start...
How to keep your motivation...
Or where to find good, useful resources to improve.
I know all about those struggles...
Because I went through them too.
If this sounds like you...
Then I highly suggest you read everything on this page...
Because it might just be the best thing you ever do for your Egyptian Arabic! :)
It All Started In 2015
I moved to Cairo to improve my Arabic.
I already had three years of Standard Arabic under my belt, and was so good that I worked as my university’s “Arabic Teaching Assistant.”
Unfortunately…
That didn’t seem to help so much.
It took all of an hour of being in Cairo before I realized how different Standard Arabic is than the Egyptian dialect. All of a sudden, the formal language that I had spent almost every day learning for three years....
Was borderline useless.
I did, slowly but surely, get better at Egyptian Arabic.
It just took a lot of work…
And progress was slow.
Things didn't stay stuck in my brain, and I couldn't for the life of me understand what Egyptians were saying.
Until, that is...
I found something that worked better than anything else. :)
This is the solution that I’d like to share with you today.
Something that will get you speaking (and more crucially, understanding) Egyptian Arabic...
Without going through an ineffective class...
Paying hundreds of dollars for a private teacher..
Or haphazardly collecting random phrases from your Egyptian friends and expecting it to get you somewhere.
(We've all been there!)
Even if you never had success with Egyptian Arabic before...
Think you're "too old" or just "bad at languages"...
Or are already studying with an Egyptian Arabic course or teacher.
But first…
Why should you listen to me?
"That American Guy That Speaks Egyptian Arabic Super Well"
I'm not just a guy that moved to Cairo and learned a little bit of Egyptian Arabic.
Actually...
I learned quite a lot of it. :)
So much, and so fluently...
That I built up a reputation as “that American guy that speaks Egyptian Arabic super well.”
People even started coming to me for advice!
I started a popular blog all about learning Egyptian Arabic called Cleo Lingo with my Egyptian friend Tarek…
And I even wrote a book about living in Cairo and learning the dialect!
Egyptian Arabic is a huge part of my life -
And now I want to pass that knowledge to you. :)
So…
What exactly am I talking about…
And how can it help you learn Egyptian Arabic?
Back to my story about moving to Egypt...
And failing miserably at speaking Standard Arabic. :)
The Method That Changed Everything
Basically, if you want to learn Egyptian Arabic…
And I mean really actually learn it…
It’s difficult to know where to start.
Unfortunately (as you probably already know) there aren’t a lot of good Egyptian Arabic resources out there.
And even the ones that do exist are boring…
Don’t really teach you the stuff you need to know…
Or are jam packed with content that is way too easy...
Or way too hard.
I dealt with all of this..
Hated how unprepared it left me...
And struggled through lack of progress with the dialect...
Until I realized, gradually, the most “guaranteed” way of learning Egyptian Arabic:
Listening to authentic (and fairly short) Egyptian Arabic conversations, reading along with transcripts, and repeating.
Sexy?
Not really.
Effective?
Absolutely.
So effective, in fact, that I got to the point where I could comfortably go to events or meetings where I was the only foreigner…
Events that happened entirely in Egyptian Arabic…
And converse in the dialect quite comfortably!
Whether at outdoor cafes…
Informal “conversation clubs”...
Or eating dinner with a bunch of new friends.
And all because of this simple yet effective method of learning with Egyptian Arabic conversations.
That’s why I’m excited for what you’re about to read next. :)
Introducing...
Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) is the easy-to-use, conversation-based Egyptian Arabic course guaranteed to massively improve your fluency...
Both spoken and listening...
So you can finally reach your Egyptian Arabic goals...
Connect more deeply to Egyptian people and culture...
And get the most out of your time in Egypt.
How Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) Works
Basically, we took all of the vocabulary you need to have comfortable "high beginner" conversations in Egyptian Arabic...
As well as understand naturally paced Egyptian Arabic...
Divided them into 10 general “themes” (common categories of things you would typically chat about at the beginner level)...
Worked with four professional Egyptian Arabic teachers with state-of-the-art recording equipment...
And packaged it into a bunch of conversations.
40, to be exact!
All with transcripts in English, Franco Arabic, and the Arabic script.
I won’t lie…
As effective as this style of learning was for me…
Finding level appropriate material was difficult.
I’d often spend hours searching for stuff that I could use to study…
And let’s be honest - not a whole lot is there if you’re studying Egyptian Arabic!
Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) changes that.
So that's the basic idea of what the Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) course is..
But most importantly...
Why does it work?
Why Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) Is Different
I'll get straight to the point:
Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) mimics immersion in the language.
That's why it's so effective...
And so very different from a lot of courses you often come across.
You know the ones I'm talking about...
Those courses that teach you a few vocabulary lists...
The "top 10 Egyptian Arabic" phrases...
And then expect you to somehow magically learn to speak the language?
Kind of like...
Here is how to count from 1 to 10 in Egyptian Arabic, now go have a conversation.
Yeah….those don’t work.
The reason is that you aren't getting enough exposure to language that will get you anywhere.
But Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner)?
A massive amount of input...
Designed to make repetition easy (and enjoyable).
This, after all, is the key to immersion:
Massive amount of input + a lot of repetition = rapid progress.
I’ll be honest with you-
This course can feel overwhelming at first.
- Each one of these 40 conversations is right around 1:30 long (the sweet spot for comprehension)...
- With only the most important vocabulary you need to know (to maximize the effectiveness of your study time)...
- All read by professional Egyptian Arabic teachers (so you know exactly what the correct pronunciation is).
In other words...
There is a lot of stuff here...
And it's all designed with one single goal...
To make you really good at both speaking and understanding Egyptian Arabic.
If you want the "here are 10 words, go have a conversation" approach...
We can't help you.
But, if you want to actually speak Egyptian Arabic...
Make friends with Egyptians...
Connect with your Egyptian family...
Get by on your own in Egypt, bargaining with street vendors like you were born to do it...
And are ready to stick with a method that actually works...
Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) is the course for you.
What's Included In Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner)
Let's get specific.

- Full PDF transcripts of each conversation (English, Egyptian Arabic script, and Franco Arabic transliterations)
- Background on each conversation for full comprehension
- A vocabulary list of the most important terms in each conversation
I'm not lying when I say that this "conversation-based" style of immersion is super effective for learning Egyptian Arabic.
In fact, I gave several students early access to Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner)...
And the results speak for themselves!
These people have taken their Egyptian Arabic skills...
Both speaking and listening...
To the next level with Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner).
Are you next? :)
How To Enroll
Here's what I think:
If you enroll in Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner)...
And study the conversations in the way I would...
Each one of these conversations can be multiple hours of study time.
That's how in depth (and packed full of Egyptian Arabic) they are.
Take just two hours per conversation (most likely a huge underestimate)...
And you're already up to 80 hours of Egyptian Arabic immersion study time.
How much would 80 hours with an Egyptian Arabic teacher cost you?
A decent teacher, at 20 bucks an hour:
1,600 dollars.
Even the cheapest one you're going to find, at 10 bucks an hour:
800 dollars.
So - how much are we charging for Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner)?
Well...
Certainly not the price of a teacher.
Actually, not even close!
Enroll today…
And you won’t be paying 1,600 dollars…
Or 800 dollars…
Or 400 dollars…
Or even 200 dollars!
Enroll in Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner), and you get everything for just...
119 dollars. :)
That's basically a little over 2 bucks per conversation!
And the best part?

Eric & Tarek,
Your Cleo Lingo Team
FAQ'S:
Why should I trust you to teach me Egyptian Arabic?
Because Egyptian Arabic is all we do. Cleo Lingo isn’t one of those super vague “language blogs”, and it’s not even a source for “learning Arabic” (whatever that means). Nope. Our mission from day 1 has been simple and specific: teach you Egyptian Arabic. Egyptian Arabic is all we do, and it’s all we’ll ever do. As of October 2024, we’ve published 233 blog posts on learning the language, 42 action-packed newsletters, a bunch of posts on various social media websites, and have thousands of readers every month.
Will this course teach me Standard Arabic?
Nope! Nothing Cleo Lingo has ever done teaches you Standard Arabic. If you are focused on Standard Arabic / fusha, this is not the course for you.
What level is Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) course for?
Complete beginner up until intermediate. And to be sure that you get the most out of the course, regardless of your level, I’ve recorded 8 videos as part of your free bonuses. One of these videos gives you detailed advice for how to approach studying with the course depending on your level.
How long do I have access to the course?
Forever, of course. :) That means even if you aren't ready to get started right away, you can still enroll to lock down a great deal. Also important: you get free lifetime access to any updates in the future!
How much grammar do you cover in this course?
Honestly, not a whole lot. At least not directly. I’m completely convinced that the best way to learn how a language works is to just jump into the deep end. This is what immersion is all about. However, we know some people really prefer this grammar first approach. That’s why we include the “Egyptian Arabic Grammar Book”, as a free bonus.
Is Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) going to make me perfectly fluent?
Um…no. Anybody that claims that one course is going to make you speak a language perfectly is lying to you. Here is what this course WILL do for you though- make you much better at understanding Egyptian Arabic, give you a ton of vocabulary to work with, and gradually improve your ability to speak Egyptian Arabic with native speakers. Plus - we can’t do the work for you. Egyptian Arabic Conversations (Beginner) is a wonderful resource. But it’s just that - a resource. You still have to use it!
How long are the conversations?
The average length of the conversations are about 90 seconds long. Some are a little longer, some are a little shorter. This was intentional: 90 seconds long is the sweet spot for comprehension and repetition without losing focus.
How expensive is the course?
119 dollars. We will be raising the price the next time we open it for enrollment. Basically, we’re charging a little more than two dollars per recorded conversation, along with transcripts, vocabulary, background, and 205 dollars worth of FREE bonuses.
How long do I have to sign up?
We are closing our doors on March 1st at midnight. After we open up enrollment in the future, the course will be much more expensive. Most likely 200+ dollars (and we aren't sure when we will be reopening it).
